Kajo
Kajo
Kajo carries an ancient heritage within—it is a faithful wanderer of the forest, whose call reaches the threshold between worlds. In Finnish Kalevalaic folklore, the wolf is born from iron and carried by the wind, a silent witness to the untamed wilderness. This piece reflects that primal power.
The body of the piece is crafted from Finnish birch and painted in a lavender-hued purple. The surface is finished with thin, translucent acrylic glazes, giving the color a deep and glass-like appearance.
The glass used in the work is opalescent Bullseye art glass. The pieces are hand-cut and kiln-fused into a single, seamless whole. The glass always reacts to the firing process individually, making each piece unique. Glass is placed at different levels to highlight the animal’s most vital features. When the light is turned on, it creates an optical depth that shifts according to the viewer's perspective.
